Video Game Tester: Is it worth it?
Get paid to play video games!
I actually didn’t know that one could make money out of “playing” video games. But don’t let that first sentence fool you, everything is not what it seems. In reality, you don’t get paid to just “play”, but also “play and test” the video game (similar to beta-testing in software development). As a video game tester, your job is to seek out the “kinks” and bugs in the game in addition to playing it. People who used to work as testers claim that it isn’t easy: you have to describe everything in detail, from how you found the bug to where you came across it in the game. Descriptions should be as detailed as possible, enough to give the programmers (the game developers) clues where to find it themselves.
Why blog about it? I came across this email (obviously spam) with an ad that pays for video game testers. I think why not? I mean, at least I could cash in on something most people would perceive as a “waste of time”. Still, I did a background check and found out that this could possibly be fraud. But anyway, I think it’s worth mentioning in this blog.
